Red admiral caterpillars
In whio studio we are raising red admiral caterpillars! We have learned that red admiral butterflies only lay eggs on native stinging nettle. The caterpillars eat the nettle and live on it to keep safe. Some caterpillars make a tent out of the leaves. They don't get stung but we have to be very careful not to touch the nettle! We hope that our caterpillars will turn into chrysalises, then hatch out as butterflies before the Christmas holidays. We love our caterpillars and monitor them closely every day.
